Spreading the stories of Eureka
Welcome to Eureka Springs: The I-Sh*t-You-Not History of America’s Quirkiest Town is my first book, but I’ve been writing most of my life. The four years that went into it were familiar territory. The two months since launch are a different story.
After launch, I focused on local distribution. Inventory tracking, monthly sales tax reports, and bookkeeping for that were all new to me. It has been an on-the-job education.
The result is that the special edition paperback is now available at twenty locations across the Eureka Springs area–for sale at shops, browsing in lodging common areas, or borrowing at the Carnegie Library. Sales have been steady, with half a dozen shops on their second (or third!) order.
Up next? Getting the wider world to notice–another area where I have no clue what I’m doing.
The first success is a good sign. Hardcore audiobook addicts follow AudiobookSoul for fiercely independent reviews, features, author Q&As, and industry deep dives. The site asked insightful questions in their blog interview with me, “A Town of 2,100 Narrates Its Own History”.
Through coverage like that, I hope to spread the stories of Eureka Springs far and wide. Now more than ever, people need to be reminded that live-and-let-live tolerance, individual expression, and dedication to community might be messy, but the ride is worth it.
