Last weekend, I did something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time. I sent the first half of my book to beta readers.

The ego has to be checked at this door. A beta reader’s goal is to be brutally honest about the good, the bad, and the ugly. That lets me do something about the ugly – and maybe the bad depending on how you meant it.

Beta readers are a thing because diversity is strength.

Everyone thinks differently, writes differently, and reads differently. Seeing my writing through the prism of diverse perspectives will help me make my book better.

Now, that’s what I’m looking forward to.
