The return of Poetluck
In Eureka Springs, one often has the feeling of being someplace special. A recently revived tradition is the perfect place to experience that feeling again.
The Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow is once again hosting Poetluck the third Thursday of each month, including the 18th this week. If “potluck and authors reading their stuff” sounds underwhelming, understand that Eureka Springs takes both to a higher level.
Bring a potluck dish to share, and enjoy the smorgasbord of small bites and treats of outstanding quality and variety. Honestly, this spread alone would be worth coming for.
If you have any appreciation for words, you will love the equally outstanding quality and variety of short works read by their authors, including poems and excerpts from other writing. The evening’s featured writers get 10 minutes each, and other writers who sign up are given 5 each, so it never feels slow.
You can hear local authors as well as some of the exceptional writers who came from across the country to stay at the Colony.
This week, I plan to read a portion of one of my chapters there. It’s the most appropriate I could think of: the one about accomplished author Crescent Dragonwagon, co-founder of the Writers’ Colony. Talk about twists and turns!
Poetluck starts at 6 p.m. and wraps up around 9 the third Thursday of every month at the Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow at 515 Spring Street in Eureka Springs.
